Have You Been Rolfed?

October 14th, 2010 by Gail Foley

Did you subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I know most of you are scratching your head and going – what??? I’ve included the professional definition down below, but more importantly I’d like you to read my story and how it relates to anyone in business.

The key words in ‘Rolfing’ to me are restructuring and movement education. You see I was ‘Rolfed’ – 4 1/2 years ago to stop the progression of my scoliosis that had me twisted up and in pain for over 7 years. One specialist after another tried their best to relieve my chronic pain, on meds for a year that only left me in worst pain when I got off them, shoe lifts, brutal and exhausting visits with chiropractors, thee best Kinesiologists, physcial therapy…the list goes on.

But I discovered the practice of Rolfing in a Readers Digest article and I kept it and somehow knew that was the answer to my problem. And it was – 10 brutal and painful sessions later (not all of them) I emerged taller, more energetic, lost 10 pounds almost overnight (no, not recommended for a weight loss approach, just a side affect for me). And I was out of pain and in alignment and life was grand again. I had not realized how much chronic pain had affected everything in my life until I got it back!

Tomorrow I have to re-visit my Rolfer for a tune up – aches and pains and commotion are going on that I have to cut off at the pass. And this so reflects where I am in my business right now and thought maybe you could relate, too.

Do you ever find yourself out of alignment with what you really feel is the right way to be doing your business or personal life? I am in the middle of re-structuring what I started a while back when I became concerned I was not growing fast enough or watching others fly by me. I really had to take a step back to see what in the world I was doing because I had gotten way off to track and been distracted by watching other people’s activities. When I should have listened to this quote: “Never mind what others do: do better than yourself, beat your own record from day to day and you are a success.” — William J. H. Boetcker

I tried to re-invent the wheel for my business and put in place some marketing strategies that I felt were important, and certainly I did not want to be left behind in Social Media, etc. But I fell and hit my head (just kidding) and I saw the light and I realized it was time to get back to the basics that had worked for me before. I have to admit it’s a bit of a struggle, because I have to re-establish the rhythm I had and reconnect back to the structure that I walked away from…thinking there was a better, faster way.

But you know what I’ve found to be true: “Success is consistency of action. Doing the basics over and over again.” So I have restructured my strategies and thanks to my friend, Val, sharing her wisdom and incredible insight I am not only now in Massive Action, but I am taking inspired massive action and am ‘Rolfing’ my business!

Here’s the real explanation for ‘Rolfing’…maybe you’ll see how it connects to you and your business, too.

Passing on a smile,

What is Rolfing?

Rolfing® is an original and scientifically validated system of body restructuring and movement education. Through the ten session Rolfing® series the body is balanced in relationship to itself and within the field of gravity by working with the connective tissue.

The scientific theory that a physical object vertically aligned within the field of gravity moves through space more efficiently is one of the key principles of Rolfing®. This balance in the field of gravity is achieved by bringing segments of the body (head, neck, torso, pelvis, legs and feet) into a more structurally organized relationship with one another. As Dr. Rolf said, “Gravity is the therapist.” “What is Rolfing?”

Got Follow Up?

October 11th, 2010 by Gail Foley

Do you struggle with feeling like a ‘stalker’ or a professional when you know you have to make that call and follow up? One of our leaders uses a fun line that I like to use, too, like on the 6th call. It goes like this: “Hi Joe, This is Gail, again, you know there’s a fine line between being a stalker and just following up – please don’t make me cross that line. I’d love to hear back from you, with a yes or a no. Thanks! My number is.”

Sorta humorous and fun to leave, but the bottom line is if we don’t follow up with anything, we are leaving money on the table. I personally can attest to having dropped the ball on a follow up and lost a potential customer and or team partner. That is soooooooo much more painful than making that follow up call.

Today, my blog is more about one of my friends and and a new e-book she is launching addressing the struggles of follow up and how to make it easier on yourself. I have included her information here so you can take advantage of her pre-launch and get your business in a more prosperous state before 2010 draws to a close!

How to Steadily Turn Prospects Into Customers in just 81 days!

With less than 90 days left to the year, follow-up is critical to your sales goals. Here’s how to make the ground work from earlier this year count for something – all that networking, all those business cards collected, all those presentations you made.

In a continuing online survey with over 350 responses from entrepreneurs, small business owners and salespeople just like you, and maybe EVEN you, I have uncovered four distinct follow-up reluctance patterns:

- “I feel like I am bothering people so I tend to not follow-up,” is the #1 obstacle to follow-up with 44% of respondents identifying this as a reason.
- “Follow-up is a hit and miss process,” is a close #2 with 31% of the votes.
- “I would do it but I am too busy with other things,” tallies at 14%.
- And, only 11% can say, “My follow-up is persistent with a series of planned activities.”

Can you identify with any of these patterns? What price are you paying for whatever your reason is for lack of follow-up?

Lack of follow-up simply means lack of sales. And according to some research, as much as 80% of your sales!

“Makes follow-up easy for introverts and extroverts! As a small business owner and entrepreneur, I’ve been looking for the missing piece to take my business to the next level. Pat Weber’s Secrets for Sales Reluctance provides the systematic approach to help me overcome my fears and get more sales. Pat provided me with a check list to use while networking and another to turn my follow-up into action. Then she took away my excuses for using it. I appreciate her straight talk with no fluff included! I would recommend Pat’s ebook to anyone (even us extroverts) who needs a simple, concise plan to following up after making the effort to network.”

What’s Your Mission?

October 7th, 2010 by Gail Foley

You know I’ve always lived by a simple philosophy that is based on a Chinese Proverb…I’ll share it here:

“If you want happiness for an hour – take a nap.
If you want happiness for a day – go fishing.
If you want happiness for a month – get married.
If you want happiness for a year – inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime – help someone else.

Those words I actually had printed on an old business card of mine and now I share magnets with that phrase on it, because I truly believe that in the bigger picture of life that’s really what most of us find most satisfying…helping others

I have to tell you though that for a while I’ve been so focused on getting this blog up and doing stuff on line that I lost my way on what my true mission is. Oh, not to say that I am not totally in love with all the new friendships and budding relationships I have acquired – that part is way over the top and always has been. But for me I realized it’s not about being a great blogger or being an consistent commenter…it’s sharing what will help someone acquire his or her dream. It’s about making a difference in someone’s life!

Of course, I didn’t figure this out all by myself – no, I had to travel a ways away to our annual convention – our 5th and I’ve been at every one – to have that switch flipped back up to high gear! So I encourage you, attend your company events and get re-energized! Because for me, this time, my mission became more clear to me than at any other convention…not sure why, except I feel I’m letting a whole lot of people down by not sharing this with them.

I love ‘branding’ myself, but I realized I did that a long time ago. In fact, I was coming out of the airport in Dallas returning from the convention with many of our partners around and someone said, “Hey, You’re The Hey Card Lady.” True statement, but I thought she was part of our group – not so, she remembers meeting me locally and they were just coming back from Hawaii.

It’s funny, coming from someone that thrives on recognition, but my name being remembered is no longer as important as being remembered for my mission and how I help millions of people act on their promptings and share a fun, fabulous financial vehicle to freedom. I love the feeling of KNOWING how valuable our mission is and the empowerment that comes with that feeling.

We’re free to dream our dreams, we’re free to achieve them…my mission is clear…is yours?

Sending a big smile your way,

P.S. No bloopers this week, just a funky hair thing going on there. LOL
